New Mexico Pueblo Pottery Bird Figurine, Miniature Pottery, Native American Indian Pottery

Sorry, this item has sold.

***** LISTING IS FOR ONE BIRD ONLY *****

This miniature pottery bird is just adorable. Made by a Sandia Pueblo potter by the name R. Baca, this bird was part of a pair that I bought at an estate that had many miniatures. Sandia Pueblo, which is adjacent to Albuquerque on the north side of the city, is a relatively small pueblo that was abandoned in the 1600s then said to have been re-inhabited by other Pueblo Indians in the 1700s. It's a treat to find pottery pieces from this pueblo--and while the artistry is definitely present there, the pottery is not as well known as that of Acoma or Santa Clara, for example. This bird figurine reminds me of a long tailed bird sitting on a nest or in the water. The main difference between the two is the painting of the feathers on the sides. Since the price and listing is for one only, the one you receive may have slightly different feathers than the one pictured in the main photo. rThe piece is not glazed, and it does have some small areas where the paint has been scuffed. The only information I can find on R. Baca was an olla that was auctioned; that olla was from the 1970s.

Measures just over 2" at the tallest point by about 2" long and just under 1" deep. In good condition.

For the bird lover who also happens to love the Southwest.

• We insure items of $50 or more, and for any item costing over $200, we also add signature confirmation wherever it is available.

Returns & Refunds

• Buy with confidence--we accept returns. Per our policies, contact us within two weeks of delivery. Return shipping is at your expense, and the item must be returned in the same condition in which received.

• If your item arrives damaged, photograph it with packaging so we may make a claim to our post office. Etsy and PayPal require that the item be returned before we can issue a refund.

• Since returning an item is no fun for either of us, we encourage you to contact us before buying to ask questions or request additional photos. I'd rather talk you out of something vs your being disappointed with a purchase!

• Our top priority is your positive experience with this shop, and our greatest hope is that you LOVE the item purchased!
