Here we have a rare and wonderful piece of religious folk art made with a paper-like metal or tin that has been wrapped around the top and sides of an antique wooden shoe mold and milagro charms nailed into spots. Milagros--the word means "miracles" in Spanish and refer to small metal religious charms--are used as a matter of faith, to ask for blessings for particular areas of life. This shoe has a Sacred Heart milagro on one side, symbol of God's love, and there is a large sacred heart curved at the toe of the shoe mold. There is a milagro of eyes on the other side, and a couple of cherubs here and there. The shoe does not have many milagros, but what stands out is the artistic treatement of the tin that's wrapped around the surface. All of those designs have been hand-stamped--the border around the bottom, the diagonal pattern with dots, the rays of the sun in the center. You may see this style of cross, with the paper-like wrap today, but modern forms are actually pre-printed BASED on an authentic piece such as this one. The shoe came from the estate of a woman in Santa Fe who collected religious folk art from Mexico all of her life, and this piece was made circa 1970s. It has weight and could function as a paperweight or to hold light books against a shelf, but in the home where it came it was on an altar like table with saints and crosses.
The wooden foot or shoe form measures just over 10" long by about 3-1/2" across at the widest point and 3-1/2" tall. The shoe weighs about 1.9 pounds.

Returns & Refunds
• We accept returns. Per our policies, contact us within 14 days of delivery. Return shipping with insurance and tracking is at your expense. We process refunds once the item is returned in the same condition received.
• If your item arrives damaged, photograph it with packaging so we may make a claim.
• Returning an item is no fun; contact us before buying to ask questions or request additional photos. I'd rather talk you out of something vs your being disappointed with a purchase!

Do you do layaways?
We can work with you on a payment plan with immediate down payment up to two months for full payment.

We do NOT do reserves or holds. Like any business, we use sales proceeds to keep the shop running. We truly can't afford to take items off the market. But even if you have some funds with which to make a down payment, we can do layaway with you. Just convo to say you'd like to do a layaway, and we'll work with you on that route instead of a Hold or Reserve.
