This vintage cuff bracelet is exotic, and I can't express just how one-of-a-kind it is. The woman who bought this in the early 1980s was attracted to what at that time was a combination of traditional Navajo construction, with the heavy stamped sterling silver backplate and borders, but also those non-traditional applied brass frames that highlighted bezels alternating between what appears to be amber and carnelian stones. In the words of the previous owner: "What an incredible combination for the 20-something-old hippie that I was, born in New Mexico yet in love with bohemian jewelry from all over the world from that era?!?" And indeed, there are aspects of this bracelet that make it seem as if it is traditional Navajo, like the rails with hand stamping along the border, the weight and quality of work, and that DL hallmark, appearing to belong to silversmith Diane Lucero, who worked with Albuquerque-based jewelry manufacturer Sunwest Silver. But then there are those ornate brass frames, oval and with ornamentation between each frame at the top and bottom, which harken to Moroccan and Middle Eastern influences. Remember, the 1970s and 1980s were a time when faraway treasures from India and Tibet and other tribal cultures were the rage. So, the thinking is that Lucero worked with an artist who added the brass applied elements and influenced the gemstones, amber and carnelian, neither of which would have been traditional to Navajo jewelry of that era. Plus, we see a combined hallmark, a maker's stamp inside Lucero's, which tells us that this was a joint effort. This cuff is unique, rare, and not like anything you will ever find on the market. The stone selection is pretty amazing, and those stones are still vibrant, not dulled from age, and the patina on both silver and brass is soft and lovely.
The bracelet measures 2" wide across the top, and taking a soft tape measure along the inside, the length is just over 5-1/4" plus a 1" gap or a total of 6-1/4". Weighs 124g.
Rare, precious, few and far between--however you choose to describe it, this cuff is extraordinary!

Returns & Refunds
• We accept returns. Per our policies, contact us within 14 days of delivery. Return shipping with insurance and tracking is at your expense. We process refunds once the item is returned in the same condition received.

We can work with you on a payment plan with immediate down payment up to two months for full payment.

We do NOT do reserves or holds. Like any business, we use sales proceeds to keep the shop running. We truly can't afford to take items off the market.
