Navajo Leonard & Marian Nez Natural Green Turquoise Row Bracelet Size 6.5+, Native American
This heavy vintage Navajo cuff bracelet has some of the prettiest natural green turquoise I have ever seen, a deep yet luminescent color with hints of deep creamy seafoam to forest green--and all in the same stone, in some cases. The bracelet was made by award-winning Navajo silversmith duo Leonard & Marian Nez, from whom the bracelet was purchased directly in the late 1990s. Marian learned silversmithing in the 1970s from her parents, eventually becoming a bench smith for the Zachary Jewelry Company, which if anyone here is familiar with this company knows that they were known for emerging with incredible quality at a time when turquoise was becoming scarce yet was still being used in generous amounts and with excellent silverwork. In Marian's words, this time with Zachary "promoted my creativity and [they] entered some individual pieces of my jewelry in art shows. My designs were awarded first and second place ribbons. In addition, a photo of me working on my jewelry was published in the book, 'Allure of Turquoise Book' written by Joe Dan Lowry." Marian taught the craft to husband Leonard, and this particular bracelet was made right before the two started their own jewelry business. Marian took a break from jewelry-making to become a Certified Community Health Worker after her father died from complications due to diabetes; Marian was able to give back in the field of diabetes prevention with Native Americans before finally getting back to jewelry full time in semi-retirement. Of her work she says: "Each piece that is created comes from the humble heart and positive thoughts. I want the person wearing my jewelry to know and feel the love that’s behind my work.” And back to this bracelet, which again was one of the first that she and Leonard made together, it displays all the seriousness of dedicated silversmiths working together, using the best quality stones and the heaviest silver they could--128g worth! The five stones in this bracelet are set in smooth bezels, framed with rope wire all the way around, with that center stone generously cut, as noted in the domed profile. I don't come a lot of bracelets that have this much weight to the silverwork, it's almost as if the bracelet was made for oneself, but the shank is incredibly heavy and well made.
The bracelet measures about 3/4" wide across the top, and closer to 1" across that top stone. Using a soft tape measure around the interior, the bracelet measures about 5-1/4" long with a gap of about 1-3/8--which makes it about 6-5/8" total length. That substantial 128g is the heft of some squash blossom necklaces! In great vintage condition, and while the turquoise has texture, like terrain, there are no cracks and all stones well seated.

• We ship to many parts of the world. On any listing, enter your zip or postal code into the Shipping box to find out if your country is included and how much it will cost. If you find we do not ship to your country, contact us to find out if we might be able to.
• We ship within 1-3 days of order via USPS, Fed Ex, and UPS. and any order of $100 or more will be insured via third party insurance.

Returns & Refunds
• We accept returns. Per our policies, contact us within 14 days of delivery. Return shipping with insurance and tracking is at your expense. We process refunds once the item is returned in the same condition received.
• If your item arrives damaged, photograph it with packaging so we may make a claim.

Do you do layaways?

We do NOT do reserves or holds. Like any business, we use sales proceeds to keep the shop running. We truly can't afford to take items off the market. But even if you have some funds with which to make a down payment, we can do layaway with you. Just convo to say you'd like to do a layaway, and we'll work with you on that route instead of a Hold or Reserve.
Can you tell me SOLD prices?
We get correspondance almost daily asking how much certain items are worth or what the price was of items that have sold, and we can no longer respond to these messages.
