This statue of Saint Therese (St. Terese, Theresa) of Lisieux is made of a chalkware like plaster, in Mexico as the back indicates, and we estimate it to be from the 1960s. There are chips in the surface, some of which have been covered with paint, and there are some wrinkles in the plaster, one of which you can see close up in Photo 2. There are several of these wrinkles, which look like surface cracks yet are production flaws. She is depicted with cross and roses held close to her heart. St. Therese was a Carmelite nun who lived from 1873-1897, so not very many years. She died at the age of 24, and is one of the most beloved saints in the Catholic religion and is called the "Little Flower," as she loved nature and often used it to describe the Divine. In her memoirs she wrote about herself as "the little flower of Jesus" and likened herself not to glorious flowers but to the wildflowers of forests and fields. She is the patron to gardeners and florists. She died of tuberculosis, and one of the four miracles that led to her beatification was a cure involving a 23-year-old seminarian who was dying from advanced pulmonary tuberculosis. The night he thought he was dying, he prayed to Therese. Afterward, the examining doctor testified, "The destroyed and ravaged lungs had been replaced by new lungs..." For this reason, St. Therese is also patron to those suffering to those with lung diseases. She is a powerful saint in the Southwest, perhaps because of her practice of a simple life resonates with Hispanic Catholics.
She stands 17-1/2" tall and her base is a little over 5-1/2" by 5-1/2". She weighs about 3.5 pounds unpacked. Will be double boxed for shipping.

Yes, we can work with you on a payment plan with immediate down payment. We generally do 30-day plans of two payments, but for more expensive items we can do a 60- or 90-day plan. We follow the Etsy recommended approach of having you purchase an item using Other as a payment option, then invoicing you via PayPal per the payment schedule upon which we mutually agree.
Note that layaways past due over 30 days (with three reminders) go into default. Once in default the transaction is cancelled and layaway payments are not returnable due to having removed items from the market and losing potential sales.
