Sterling Silver Cuff Bracelet with Virgin of Guadalupe with Cross-and-Skull and Turquoise

This sterling silver cuff bracelet is made with a Medallion of the Virgen de Guadalupe, the center area of Our Lady framed with an oval backplate that has stamped rays in the background. All of that is set atop a shank that is relatively thick and decorated with 12 total turquoise dots--six on each side--and two cross-and-skull clusters on each side. The shank has a small rail along a portion of the edges that is brighter silver than the heavily oxidized background. Our Lady of Guadalupe is revered by people all over the world and especially those of Mexican heritage. The saint appeared before a indigenous worker, Juan Diego, on the morning of December 9, 1531. The saint asked for a church to be built at the Hill of Tepeyac, near Mexico City, in her honor. Diego recited the encounter with the Virgin Mary to the Spanish Archbishop of Mexico City, Fray Juan de Zumárraga, Despite Diego's miraculous meeting, Zumárraga instructed him to ask the Holy Mother for a sign to prove her identity. After first healing Diego's uncle, the Virgen de Guadalupe appeared again, this time instructing her loyal follower to collect flowers from the top of Tepeyac Hill. Confused, considering it was late December, Diego returned to the site Mary had first appeared to him not expecting to see any flowers. As he climbed, he spotted Castilian roses, the Virgen de Guadalupe then arranged these in Diego's cloak. Diego then went to Zumárraga and opened his cloak, the Castilian roses fell to the floor, and imprinted on his personal tilma was the image of the Virgen de Guadalupe, and the day was December 12. The Virgen de Guadalupe is, simply, the sacred Mother Mary as she is best known by people of Mexico and surrounding areas. Because of that Mexican association, the skulls are also a part of the overall design, as skulls in Mexican culture symbolize the cycle of death as part of life. The bracelet was designed by Albuquerque-based Blue Horse Trading and constructed by Santa Clara silversmith Phil Petarick.
The width of the bracelet is about 1" across the shank and just over 1-1/2" top to bottom at the oval center. Taking a soft tape measure along the interior of the bracelet, it measures about 5-1/2" around with a 3/4" gap, for a total length of 6-1/4" around and because it has profile that is more flat than round, I believe it would fit up to a Size 6-3/8" wrist. Do be aware that a 3/4" gap is small, and so this is really for someone accustomed to putting on and off cuff bracelets with small gaps. Weighs 71g.

We do NOT do reserves or holds. Like any business, we use sales proceeds to keep the shop running. We truly can't afford to take items off the market. But even if you have some funds with which to make a down payment, we can do layaway with you. Just convo to say you'd like to do a layaway, and we'll work with you on that route instead of a Hold or Reserve.
