These vintage large, gorgeous cluster earrings are made with Mother of Pearl, garnet, and cubic zirconia (CZ)--all in a traditional chandelier style that features a cluster at the post with an articulating large section that expands like a fan. These earrings are perfect for the person who loves statement and sparkle, which the CZs add to the naturally luminescent Mother of Pearl and faceted deep red garnet. The earrings have star appeal, so easy to dress up. But they're also perfect for wearing with a crisp white blouse and denim jeans, for shopping in Santa Fe, San Francisco, or Nashville. These carry the hallmark for Nakai trading, an Albuquerque shop that was founded in the 1970s by Gilo and designer wife Grace Lopez (dec), which in its heyday employed hundreds of Native American silversmiths. Grace was known for designing pieces with non-traditional gemstones--something that is so hard to find in Southwestern jewelry today. One of the best things about gemstone earrings like these is they're perfect for the woman who has a birthday--or that of her children or grandchildren--in any of these months: June for the Mother of Pearl, January for the garnet, or April for diamonds (in this case a diamond substitute of CZ).
The earrings measures about 1-5/8" wide by 2-1/8" tall. The 19 cabochons of are set into smooth bezels, and all are well seated. Weigh 14g each or 28g total. This weight is what I would consider somewhat heavy, but the posts stabilize the weight of the earring and make them much more wearable than an earwire would. In excellent vintage condition.
